Travis Dewayne Whitaker was born on October 26, 1980, to Mr. James Jerome Whitaker and Mrs. Teresa Patricia Ladson. Travis D. Whitaker departed this life on Sunday, October 26, 2025. Travis was born and raised in Brunswick, Georgia. Later, he moved to Yulee, Florida, where he lived and worked until his death. Travis had a beautiful soul and a kind and gentle heart, which we love very much. Travis attended Brunswick High School. He was active in sports, ROTC, and many other things. Travis was also a big fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, which was his team. Travis attended the New Unified Johnson Temple Church as a child and was very active in the church. He was an usher and sang in the children’s choir as a child. Travis loved the Lord. He was employed at Wyatt Contracting Services, LLC. Working with his hands was what he enjoyed. Travis enjoyed life and his family.
Travis was preceded in death by his grandfather, Mr. Steve Dent, Sr.; grandmother, Mrs. Aggie B. Dent; great-grandmother, Ms. Lena Massey; great-grandfather, Mr. Thomas Massey; great-grandmother, Ms. Lena Dent; two great-aunts, Ms. Barbara Ann Singleton and Mrs. Daisy Massey Jones; stepfather, George Ladson; and uncle, Steve Dent.
Travis leaves to cherish his memories: his two sons, Travis Dewayne Whitaker, Jr., and Noah Julian Whitaker; father, James Jerome Whitaker of Savannah, GA; mother, Teresa Patricia Ladson of Brunswick, GA; siblings, Kizzy Ann Whitaker and James Jerome Whitaker, Jr., both of Brunswick, GA, and Stephanie Ann (Ronald) Johnson of York, SC; aunts, Vanessa M. Wesley and Felicia Ann Massey, both of Brunswick, GA; great-uncle, Johnny “Pop” Massey of Brunswick, GA; great-aunts, Joann Massey of Brunswick, GA, Addie Edward and Patrician Carr, both of Dallas, TX, Estoria Dent of Brooklyn, New York, and Belleshebar Dent of Waynesboro, GA; and many close cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and sorrowing friends.
