John 10:27–29 sums up the life of the saints who have chosen to follow God Almighty. God's holy words explicitly explain his plans for the saints of God , "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand." We are the flock of God’s pasture. We follow Him through this life and into the next. Nothing can separate us from His tender care. Another soldier have gone on to be with the Lord. We never know the time or the hour. We must realize that we are living in the last days, so be he ready at all times.
We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8
A book could be written to summarize the beautiful life of Mr. Clarence Cuyler and Dr. Verna Cuyler. The beautiful soul of Verna Mae Johnson Cuyler entered this world on May 27, 1952, in Estill, South Carolina, to the late Pearlie Mae Newton and Isadore Johnson. Verna attended school in Estill, South Carolina, and graduated from Estill High School with very high grades. After meeting Clarence and attending prom together, Verna and Clarence continued their courtship and married in 1973. They both soon moved to New York City.
Verna was known to everyone as “Aunty Verna”. She watched all the neighborhood kids and was loved and respected by all. Verna was a devoted mother who showed her children the strength of a woman and love. Verna joined the church and was a devoted servant. She later found her church home and joined Parsons Temple, under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Vernice Robinson. If there was a service, she was there. If, there was something that needed to be done in the church, she was there. Verna loved the Lord and spread the word of God everywhere she went. Verna decided to go back to school and graduated with her Doctorate in Theology in 2016. Dr. Verna Cuyler always made sure that God guided her steps in life and with her family.
God called Verna from labor to reward on April 2, 2020.
Clarence “Tarry” Cuyler, most likely late, entered this world in Ridgeland, South Carolina, to the late Louise Cuylear and Floyd Lotts on November 7, 1950. Clarence attended school in the Jasper County School system and was very well known. Clarence grew up with his grandparents and joined First Pine Savannah Baptist Church at a young age. Clarence was the oldest of thirteen children and beloved by all his siblings. After marrying Verna, the love of his life, he later moved to New York City.
Clarence was a hard worker with a very playful spirit. He showed his children how to be strong, laugh, and love. Clarence had many jobs to support his family and started Cuyler’s Contracting, his own business, which was very successful. He later became a Superintendent for Wavecrest and Meridian Properties, which is a job he held for over 20 years. Clarence was well known and loved by all his tenants and the neighborhood where he was known affectionately as “Sup.” Clarence was also known as “Uncle Tarry” and always helped out family, friends, and even strangers when they needed. On April 4 2020, God called Clarence home to join Verna and be with Him. Verna and Clarence were like two peas in a pod and complimented each other perfectly.
Verna was proceeded in death by her mother, Pearlie Mae Newton; and her father, Isadore Johnson. Clarence was proceeded in death by his mother, Louise Cuylear; his father, Floyd Lotts; his sister, Lisa Anderson; and brother, Tony Anderson.
