Virginia Lovett Obituary

A page has been turned, the chapter of my life is now completed, remember the battle I fought to remain on earth with each of you. A victory has been won, a life’s book closed, and it was all part of God plans for me. Family and friends, please accept the will of God, because a loving and awesome God knows what best for each of us. I want each of my family members and friends to begin your journey of healing by remembering the joy that we shared through pictures, mementos, and favorite stories, both funny and sad.

Born on December 1, 1950, in Effingham County Georgia, Jenny (as most of her family called her) was an example of dedication and love. Her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Virginia’s passion for learning was evident in everything she did. She graduated from Effingham County High School in 1970 and furthered her education at Savannah State College. She believed in the power of education and spent her life seeking knowledge, always eager to share her wisdom with others. In addition to her love for her family and learning, Virginia found great joy in gardening.

After Savannah State, she became an avid traveler, venturing to New York, Savannah, and finally settling in Atlanta, Georgia, for work. She started her career at Southern Bell Phone Company (which later became AT&T) where she spent 18 years and spent the later part of her career at the Internal Revenue Service, where she retired after 15 years.

Virginia le this world peacefully on June 15, 2024, at the age of 73. She was preceded in death by her mother, Elise Lovett Singleton and stepfather, Joe Willie Singleton.

Virginia’s support will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and a lifelong dedication to learning. Virginia is survived by three sisters, Shirley ( Theodore) Scott of Rincon, Georgia, Deloris (Charlie) Whitaker of San Antonio, Texas, and Debra (Michael) Moore of Dallas, Texas; one brother, Nathaniel Lovett of Furman, South Carolina; beloved nephew/godson, Ashley Ndukwu of Frisco, Texas; two aunts, Jessie Mae Lovett and Georgia Lovett both of Daytona Beach, Florida; one uncle, Rodney Lovett of Savannah, Georgia; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Virginia’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
