Wanda Jenkins Obituary

To all my loved ones that I am leaving behind, don’t worry about me, because my heavenly Father has set me free. Please be forever grateful and thankful for the happiness we have shared. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. My life’s been full, I’ve enjoyed much. This place was never meant to be a permanent home for any of us. Through all the pain and heart aches give praise and honor to my father for my 59 years.

Wanda Lee Jenkins was born on July 16, 1962, to the late Leo Jenkins, Jr. and Frankie Mae Miller Jenkins Austin in Brunswick, Georgia. She received her formal education it the Glynn County Public School System in Brunswick, GA. Wanda graduated from Brunswick High School in 1980. She was employed by Bed Bath and Beyond.

She began her Christian journey at St. Andrews CME Church. Wanda started her service at an early age as a junior usher and youth choir member. As an adult, she continued to serve in the church choir as a faithful songbird for Christ. Wanda lifted praises to the Lord until her final breath. She worked diligently in the hospitality industry for several year, including several hotels, World Insurance Services, and Bed, Bath & Beyond until her health failed. Wanda had a love for helping those in need. She enjoyed having a good time with anyone she met. She had a gift for helping those in need. This gave her great joy.

God’s plans are not always our plans. When the angels came for her on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Southeast Georgia Health Systems. It was much sooner than we planned. We will brave the grief that comes and try to understand. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Leo Jenkins, Jr and Frankie Jenkins Austin; stepfather, Vernon Austin; sister, Luretha Jenkins; niece: Selina Miller; grandmothers, Maude Pickette Jones and Annie McCloud Mathis; and uncle, Rev. J. O. Miller.

She leaves to cherish her memories: brothers, Johnny W. Myers III and Leo Jenkins III of Brunswick, GA; sisters, Annette Denise Miller of Essex-JCT, VT, Glonda Lee Jenkins of Brunswick, GA, and Brenda Marie (Darnell) Blackmon of Tulsa, OK; stepsiblings, Cheryl Kennedy, Vernon Kennedy, Barry Austin, Larry Austin, Joyce Austin, and Quinton Jones; uncles, Charles Miller; aunts, Bernice (Alfred) Johnson, Laura (Leroy) Dumas, Barbara Dawson, Mary Miller and a host of loving nieces, nephews, goddaughters and cousins.

Special love for her church family, work family and all of her amazing and caring friends, whom she had known practically all of her life. You know who you are, may you all forever cherish the memories of our beloved sister and your beloved friend.
