Willie Ivy “Doll” McConago Denegal Norris was born January 4, 1931, to the late Governor Houston McConago and Mattie McConago in Waynesville, Georgia. Raised in Waynesville, Georgia, she attended the Brantley and Glynn County public school system. She was known to her family and friends as “Doll.” Ms. Doll gave her life to Christ at a young age and joined the First African Baptist Church of Waynesville, Georgia. She was a faithful warrior for Christ, serving as the church announcer and choir member. To all who knew her, Ms. Doll was loving and kind, providing unselfish consideration and support for her children, family, and friends. Ms. Doll was an amazing cook, loved fashion and shoes, and enjoyed entertaining friends and playing card games.
She was married to the late Robert Lee Denegal, Sr. To this union, three children were born: Darlene McConago Colley (O. C. Oglesby, father), Bobbie A. Denegal Preston, Robert L. Denegal, Jr., Charles Denegal, Lisa Denegal Zellous (Robert Lee Denegal, Sr.). She later married Mr. Willie Norris of Brunswick, GA.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her brother, Richard (Annie) McConago of Jacksonville, FL; devoted daughters and sons, Darlene Colley (Jamaal (Armoni)), Shamaria (Sydney Nobles) of San Antonio, TX, Bobbie Preston (Zalynia and Burnett Rooks (John, Tyson, and Morgan)) of St. Simons Island, GA, (Jonathan Caine (Kylie and Jonathan Caine, Jr.)) of Brunswick, GA, Robert Denegal, Jr., (Yolanda Selini, Nathaniel, and Nihlio of Oslo, Norway) of Brunswick, GA, Charles Denegal (Shadaya, Tremain Dyer (Tylah and Journey of Jacksonville, FL) of Seattle, WA; nine great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
